Le Moyne Star quilt top

I got the quilt top completed about a week ago.  It measures 41-1/2" x 52-1/2".  Blocks are 8" square finished.  The 9 patch setting squares are 3" square finished.  Fabrics are Beach House by Blackbird Designs for Moda with Kona Solid Snow.  I opted without a border because I got lazy and decided I had enough of this quilt!

Before I put all the fabrics away, I cut up the binding and sewed them together.  This will be a scrappy binding.

Designer: Primitive Bettys
The crow pincushions are all stuffed and sitting pretty on my desks.  Weighted it with walnut shells and did some elongated blanket stitch all around the pincushion with cotton a broder thread.  Just love the pairing.  Beneath the pincushions you will see the X-Quisite doll quilt which is currently being hand quilted.

Patchwork curtains still in progress, took more time than I anticipated :s

Bought 2 more spools of YLI silk thread off eBay.  So I got the lights, mediums and darks covered for future applique!

  1. You are so talented Barbara! I love the way you integrate your quilting, sewing and stitching. Very inspiring! I especially love the elongated blanket stitch on the pincushions. It's a perfect touch.

  2. Barbara, you are really making progress......... You should be pleased with what you have accomplished. As always I continue to be in awe of your output...

  3. I love the stars with the 9 patches but sounds as if they did not hold your affection during the entire process. I really like the fabric for your curtains. Did you mention them in past posts? Your pin cushion pair are very cute, I agree. Must pop over to visit Merilyn now. Ciao.

You have a great variety of projects to work on. I like that a lot!!

  6. Oh, I am excited to see your patchwork curtains! I had planned some myself, but then we decided to move, so I still have all of the fabric.
Love the close-ups of your hand quilting!

  7. I have yet to make a star quilt. but there are two queen size quilts I made using HST - yet to be blogged.

  8. Wow! You have been busy churning out lovelies, as usual! Wish they were all mine!!! The XS pincushions look extremely lovely, and the quilting is your forte, of course: D

  9. the Le Moyne Star quilt top is very striking~!

and your quilting stitches are as 'X-quisite' as that little quilt you are stitching~!

patchwork curtains? can hardly wait to see what you have up your sleeve there.

  10. Oh. My. Gosh. I am glad that we live on different continents, because I honestly think I would be tempted to rob your house if I could. Your TV, computer, valuables would be safe, it'd just be your handwork that'd be missing. LOL Your work is GORGEOUS. The quilt tops, the quilting, the crow pillows, everything. I think I need to go lie down now.
