Quartet Exchange Received

Lillie sent me a most wonderful Quartet Exchange. I've never received a needle roll before, neither have I made one. I'll be inspecting it closely should I fancy attempting one, now that I am inspired :) Lillie also included some very useful trimmings!

I was admiring the 'Believe' ornaments on Lillie's blog recently and I am ashamed to say, I kinda knew one of them would be for me ;) I just did not know which? The one I received is stitched 1/1! Marvellous!

Thank you Lillie, it's on my board already :)

Gifts from Margaret W

In one swoop Margaret sent to me items made by both of our favourite designers. It's really really breathtaking and her finishing is impeccable.

First up is Blackbird Design's Autumn Song. This was a personal exchange actually. I love the fabric, it's backing, everything about it. Margaret was apprehensive of it's simple finishing but very frankly simple is so great, you know what they say less is more etc ...

Then it was a lovely Christmas gift. A Prairie Schooler ornament. Need I say more ;)

Margaret also include a lovely FQ of finishing fabric. She sure knows what I like :) Here they are all together!

Thank you dearest Margaret.

French Wall Board

Inspired by my success of the keyholder I made a week ago and Vonna's great idea here, I ended up with this.

It's just an A4 sized chipboard and covered with fabric. Got the framers to install the thread to hang behind the board and I screwed 'L' hooks onto it. It's a little small and rather crowded though. I know, the quaker pinball is out of theme there :p Maybe I should just make another Quaker board! :D

Key Holder

Since I frequently see my sis and her DH scrambling for the house keys or the car keys or the bike keys, I figured this might be a welcomed addition to their new home :)

Threads: DMC
Fabric: 25ct Floba (2/2)

And this was it's humble beginnings ... Yeah ugly, about sums it up! What do you expect for RM5! :p I removed the hooks and painted the sides with burnt sienna acrylic colour. Then I fixed new shiny gold hooks into the bottom side.

And this is for you Jess ...

Good Mail Day

I asked Margaret W to try to buy me a copy of JCS Magazine Ornaments Issue 2008 when she goes next to the bookshops. And she succeeded brilliantly! She also enclosed some lovely gifts from her trip to London. I love them and rest assured Margaret they will be put to good use :) Many thanks dear pal.

Halloween Stitching

We do not celebrate Halloween here in Malaysia. But with the dawn of commercialism I believe many night spots and hotels have been doing a bash of some sort for about a decade now. But to my limited knowledge, I don't think it has really caught on with the community at large and at residential areas.

Since I've been witnessing a great many Halloween finishes in blogland, I couldn't help but to take advantage of a Stacy Nash Primitive Designs survey giveaway chart found here. Unfortunately the survey has ended. I got the heads up from Barbara's blog about a week ago. Thanks for sharing Barbara.

I intend to finish it as a cushion cover, utilising the brown fabric shown.

A quilt in the making

Inspired by the book that Jess gave me (did I say I love it!), I'm starting a new quilt. It's a spin off from a design featured in the book Material Obsession by Sarah and Kathy. I've also had some help from Amanda Jean's blog. And this is the quilt I am shooting for here and here. However there will be an inner and outer border for mine.

I got 2 charm packs (Fig & Plum) and plain lime green fabric (by Flirt). It'll be 10 x 15 squares. It's all cut and ready to be pieced :)

Free RPK!

Raja Petra Kamarudin (RPK) is in Kamunting, detained under the draconian Internal Security Act. Detention without trial. He starts his 2 year (indefinite) sequester today. This is a great injustice. We the people of Malaysia will right this wrong ... however long it takes ...

For Malaysia's sake free them!!

As you know, my/our country is in peril. The authorities have used an archaic, draconian law against Raja Petra Kamaruddin (social activist) , Teresa Kok (Member of Parliament) and the 5 leaders of Hindraf (Hindu Rights Action Front). The people know it is a desperate attempt by the Government to silence dissent. Even the Law Minister Zaid Ibrahim who was tasked to reform the judiaciary, has walked the talk by resigning from his post today. We need a new Government and we need Anwar Ibrahim to lead us!! Makkal Sakti!! (People Power)

Meeting Jess!

I was in Penang to meet Jess and Tony yesterday. I had a fabulous time, it was really good meeting Jess after 'speaking' to her all this 2 plus - 3 years! Jess was more than generous with all the stuff she got me. I've got to hand it to her, she really knows which buttons to press! :D I'm in heaven ...

Being an architectural buff I took some pics of houses from the pre-war period in Penang while on a Peranakan antique buying spree and looking for Little India!

Gift for Jess

The gift went ahead of me, as I didn't think it'll be a good idea lugging a box all the way to Penang :) She called me to say she received it! Can't wait to meet up and go for our long promised appoms and the wicked brew of teh-tarik! :)

Birds

A nest fell to the ground with 3 little baby birds in the nest. 2 of them were able to fly but unfortunately the last one was rather weak. My mom made a makeshift shelter with a large leaf in the garden for it, since it's been raining here for some days. The parents did not come and feed it even when it was calling for them incessantly and sadly it died in the next 2 days :(

This is another bird, a stitched bird :) Will be finishing it into a wall hanging.

Edited:

To add another bird :) This is a personal exchange to Margaret W.
