WIPs a plenty

The going is slow on Mary Glover.  I am only at part of Part 3, how pathetic :(  Emmanuelle has already issued Part 5!  The 1/1 stitching does not help speed things up even on 28ct linen ...

Block 10: Lincoln's Platform.  From Barbara Brackman's Civil War Quilts
Block 12: Louisiana.  From: Barbara Brackman's Civil War Quilts
I'm choosing the easier blocks to make ... much like cheating ;)  NO stressing for me.

9 blocks to date and as you can see there's still only 1 Courthouse Steps block and 1 Strawberry Field block.  I hope to work on that more with some fabrics being cut.  Here's the proof:

I've abandoned the shirt I was sewing.  I did however learn how to attach the placket on the shirt.  I think I know how to go about the rest of the construction of the shirt.  I wasn't too happy with the fabric of that shirt anyway.  Now I'm working on hopefully a keeper.  A blouse for me Burda 2561.  Now the fabric is so much better to work with, Heather Ross' Mendocino.

Mug Rug.  Size: 10" x 6 1/4"
Finally a finish ... My submission for the Crazy Challenge issued by JW.  A mug rug.  I used up scraps from an old quilt that I made some time back.  I would have preferred to use Valdani Variegated Pearl 12 threads for the specialty stitches instead of DMC Ecru Pearl 12.  It would have given it more dimension.

The embroidery and all of the blocks are beautiful, but I love the mug rug most of all.

  4. You have really been busy......

The mug rug is a real favorite. Great idea to use the Crazy Quilt design and add the embroidery.

The blouse and stitchery are really coming along also.

  5. Your Civil War blocks look great all together. It's your quilt and you can do as many, or which ever, blocks you want. That's what I am going to do.
The other blocks will all get done eventually. Sounds like you have been pressed for time lately. Don't forget, this is supposed to be fun.

  8. Oh my gosh...I love your mug rug!!! I love to crazy quilt and it has been too long since I have done any but need to finish up my 6th KT doll quilt which is a little of a crazy quilt depending on how I finish it.

The CW blocks are coming along. Have you decided how many you want to make? I am still deciding but will not want to make it too large. I have still not posted mine. Yikes!

The sampler is just so pretty! Love samplers and love stitching over 1 as you know. :-) Just enjoy the process if you are behind and don't worry about it. SALs are inspiring unless you get caught behind so you have to just breathe and enjoy your own pace. Yes...speaking from experience...lol.

    Have a great weekend!

    Hugs from Holland ~

  10. I love your mug rug! How adorable. Your WIPs are fantastic. I just love the Civil War quilt blocks. I am fascinated by that era in history so even the names of the quilt blocks thrill me. LOL I know, I'm a dork!

Mary Glover looks amazing! I need to do my work for this past assignment before the next one comes out this weekend!
